New Health Data Analytics certificate addresses demand for skilled analysts in health care
Starting summer semester 2024, Anoka Technical College is launching a new advanced certificate in Health Data Analytics. The program expands the college’s long-standing portfolio of accredited programming in Health Information Management (HIM).
As the demand for highly skilled analysts in health care expands every year, Anoka Tech designed the 18-credit program with the working health information management professional in mind.
“The program is designed for professionals working in the health care field who are seeking to improve their analytics skills,” shares program instructor, Melissa Cartier, RHIA, CHDA, CCS-P, CRC. “We’ve created this program to help HIM professionals be the best analysts they possibly can be.”
Cartier is one of only about 320 health information management professionals who holds a Certified Health Data Analyst (CHDA) credential through the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA). However, there’s a growing need for the skill set in the industry and building credentials supports continued success in the field.
The Health Data Analytics program bridges the gap in education between the associate degree in health information technology and the bachelor’s in health informatics and information management.
Completing this program and sitting for the CHDA credential indicates the graduate has completed specialized coursework and is prepared for advancing in roles in a variety of industries in analytics.
