Anoka Technical College welcomed Anoka County commissioners, community and industry partners to its Machine Trades Lab Tuesday, Oct. 10 for a ceremony to celebrate the addition of two new pieces of equipment.
The latest additions, a recently-added Mazak VC -Ez 16 CNC Vertical Mill and soon-to-be-added Mazak Quick Turn QT-Ez 8MY CNC Turning Center, were made possible through a combination of funding from loans through Anoka County’s Housing and Redevelopment Authority, the Minnesota Legislature and contributions from individual and industry donors.
The new equipment will help the Machine Trades program at Anoka Tech increase its capacity and bring its training equipment in better alignment with pieces graduates could expect to see on the floors of employers and industry partners.
The acquisition of this equipment would not have been possible without the efforts of the Anoka Technical College Foundation. The foundation’s purpose is to obtain and distribute the resources necessary to support the students, faculty, programs, and vision of Anoka Tech. The foundation provides support to the college in a variety of ways, including scholarships and program support.
