Anoka Tech offers new Community Health Worker certificate
Anoka Technical College will offer a 17-credit Community Health Worker certificate for students starting fall 2025 semester.
The certificate program gives Behavioral Health and Human Services students at Anoka Tech another avenue to flexible credentials.
“Many of our students are adult learners, parents or care takers of older or vulnerable adults in their families,” says Behavioral Health and Human Services Program Director Dr. Zakia Robbins-McNeal. “Often students are taking classes a little at a time in order to balance school and other priorities.”
She says juggling those priorities had, at times, made it difficult for students to complete a 60-credit associate of applied science degree.
The Community Health Worker certificate can be completed in just two semesters, completely online and in an asynchronous format. The program provides students with both the necessary foundation for a career in community health and covers the first two semesters of the associate degree.
Community health workers provide direct service to clients with the aim of providing necessary support to stay healthy and independent.
